A Dad’s misadventures on film: Today my son got dyed purple…

Exhibit A

Either my son has been robbing banks or he really loves his blueberries.

Embarassing fun fact – the 1971 movie Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory freaked me out as a child. We watched it in preschool (on a reel mounted projector of all things…Jeez I’m old)

The most horrifying moment to 4 year old J. was when the bratty little girl stole something she shouldn’t have and turned into a freaking blueberry and floated away.*

So I’m only kind of exaggerating when I say turning around and seeing L like this today gave me some unpleasant flashbacks.

Exhibit B

This shot was hours later after cleaning up a bit. At first he was just purple all the way up to his wrists.

It’s like he was out squeezing those blueberries like they used to stomp grapes into wine!

When I discovered my son had turned himself into the Count from Sesame Street, I was in the van and I hadn’t brought the diaper bag…

Oh well, it’s not the first time I have gotten side eye when out with the kids and probably won’t be the last.

And the kids didn’t care… They had a blast.

Here we are later at the park – 2 kids and 1 purple minion climbing the ropes…

Good luck and good night!

J.

*That may be a wildly inaccurate synopsis of Willy Wonka…it was over 30 years ago.
